Diameter: 21.6 millimeters
Weight: 129 grains Fineness: .900

1841-D
Mintage: 29,392

Most 1841-D half eagles are in Very Fine to Extremely Fine condition and are common within the Dahlonega half eagle series. This date becomes scarce in Choice About Uncirluated condition and rare in Mint State. The strike on both the obverse and reverse are average in quality. Many specimens have planchet problems and circulation marks. High grade, original, uncleaned examples have good luster that is frosty and attractive and coloration ranging from orange-gold to green-gold. These specimens have great eye appeal and bring a premium. There are two known die varieties (Small D mintmark and Medium D mintmark). The Medium D mintmark is the rarest of the two and brings a premium when offered. Fewer than 155 specimens exist with less than 7% being Mint State.
