Quarter Eagles 1839 - 1859 Liberty Head 1840-1859
Diameter: 18 millimeters
Weight: 64.5 grains Fineness: .900
Edge: Reeded Designer: Christian Gobrecht

1857-D
Mintage: 2,364

The 1857-D quarter eagle has an above average strike, well perserved surfaces, and frosty luster that gives the date great eye appeal. Original, uncleaned specimens have coloration ranging from bright yellow-gold to medium rose-gold. A great type coin because of its low mintage and availablity of examples that can be found with a pleasing appearance. Less than 100 specimens survive with less than 12% being Mint State.
